Connecting Champions receives $10,000 MassMutual Foundation Grant
Connecting Champions has received a $10,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program. Connecting Champions is one of thirty-two organizations nationally to receive an award. The MassMutual Foundation made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Terrence McAllister a MassMutual agent with MassMutual Pittsburgh.
“We are stronger when we come together as a community, and our Community Service Awards program recognizes a group of MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation. “We are proud of the time and energy Terrence McAllister dedicates to better his community and delighted to support the great work MassMutual financial professionals do with organizations across the country.”
Connecting Champions asks kids and young adults with cancer, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and connects them with a mentor for the cancer journey. Everything we do is evidence-based and outcomes-driven, built to help children and young adults better survive the cancer journey.
“This grant creates a significant footprint in our organization,” says Sidney Kushner, Executive Director of Connecting Champions. “We will now be able to create friendships for dozens of kids during times of severe social isolation, and continue our rapid expansion to cities across the country.”
Terrence McAllister has been with MassMutual Pittsburgh for 10 years. He has been committed to Connecting Champions since 2015 and has dedicated countless hours of time and talent to help the organization grow and flourish.
Working with this organization has been such a blessing to not only me, but my entire family. We have learned so much from the kids we’ve met through Connecting Champions. The program this organization provides is essential to the cancer journey these children and young adults endure. This grant will make a massive impact on the expansion efforts to help others in cities across the nation.
