PITTSBURGH, PA – Roman A. Matusz, CLF® – Managing Partner of MassMutual Pittsburgh – has been awarded the University of Pittsburgh’s 2023 Varsity Letter Club Award. Matusz and a class of eight additional Awardees of Distinction were honored at the 61st Anniversary Varsity Letter Club Awards Dinner on February 24, 2023.
Since 1961, the Pitt Varsity Letter Club has honored letter winners who not only were great Pitt athletes but have also distinguished themselves in their profession and community, and who, by their accomplishments, have enhanced the value of the intercollegiate athletics programs at the University of Pittsburgh.
“The people that are honored tonight, it’s not just about what they accomplished while they were at the university, but what they’ve done after they graduated.” said Matusz. “I am here because I love Pitt, I love my university, it changed my life and that’s why I support the people.”
Matusz was a member of the University of Pittsburgh’s football team from 1986-1989, before being drafted into the NFL to play for the Chicago Bears. After his professional football career, Matusz joined the Financial Services industry. Beyond his time in athletics and two decades in Financial Services, Roman has spent countless hours supporting local community organizations such as Connecting Champions, Young Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, “A Night to Remember” event, and Pressley Ridge.
